Youth Animator – 2 Positions Available
The WAY is looking for two dynamic, caring individuals to support and engage youth during our drop‑in hours.
Youth Animators help create a safe, welcoming, and fun environment where young people can connect, participate in activities, and develop life skills.
Key Responsibilities
Welcome youth and foster an inclusive, respectful atmosphere
Lead planned activities or improvise based on the group’s energy
Encourage participation and positive interactions
Prepare the evening meal with youth and ensure cleanup
Maintain cleanliness and order throughout the center
Manage minor conflicts and enforce center rules
Conduct outdoor supervision rounds to ensure safety
Set up before opening and close the center after activities
Report attendance, incidents, and needs to the Coordinator
Participate in team meetings and suggest activity ideas
Serve as a positive role model and uphold confidentiality

Youth Animators play a central role in creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for young people attending The WAY. They support youth through meaningful interactions, structured and spontaneous activities, and by maintaining a positive atmosphere throughout the center.

Youth Engagement & Animation
Welcome youth and establish a safe, inclusive environment
Lead planned activities or adapt spontaneously to the group’s needs
Encourage participation, collaboration, and respectful behaviour
Meal Preparation & Cleaning
Prepare the evening meal with active youth involvement
Clean the kitchen, dining area, and shared spaces
Maintain overall cleanliness and order in the center
Complete additional cleaning or maintenance tasks assigned by the Coordinator
Basic Intervention
Manage minor conflicts calmly and constructively
Enforce center rules consistently
Observe youth behaviour and report relevant information to the Coordinator
Logistics & Operations
Arrive 15 minutes before opening to prepare the space
Set up materials, games, and activity areas
Clean up and close the center after activities
Safety & Outdoor Supervision
Conduct regular supervision rounds outside the building
Ensure youth safety on the center’s grounds
Communication & Teamwork
Report attendance, incidents, and needs to the Coordinator
Participate in team meetings
Suggest new activity ideas and contribute to program development
Professional Conduct
Serve as a positive role model for youth
Maintain confidentiality at all times
Follow all internal policies and procedures

Tuesdays from 2:45 pm to 7 pm
Wednesdays from 3:45 pm to 8 pm
Thursdays from 2:45 pm to 7 pm
